Privacy Policy

Nothing you do in Tabulka leaves your device.

Effective date: August 29, 2026 · Last updated: September 13, 2026

Tabulka is a browser extension that manages open tabs and personal reading and task lists. This policy explains, in plain words, what data Tabulka handles and what it does not.

The short version

  • Tabulka has no backend, no servers, and no user accounts.
  • Every piece of data Tabulka creates or reads stays on your device, in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local).
  • Nothing you do in Tabulka is sent anywhere.
  • There is no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, and no third-party service of any kind in the extension.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share any data, because we never receive any.

1. Information we collect

We do not collect any information. Tabulka runs no server, database, or analytics endpoint, so there is nothing for the developer to receive, log, or store about you. Everything Tabulka creates or reads exists only inside your own browser profile:

  • Data you provide: todo items, saved links, folder names, and the named tab-session snapshots you create.
  • Data read on your device only: your open tabs (title, URL, favicon). If you start the one-time bookmark import, Tabulka also reads your existing Chrome bookmarks. Neither is copied off your device.

Tabulka does not use cookies, does not run background analytics, and makes no network requests. It works fully offline.

2. How permissions are used

Chrome asks every extension to list its permissions. Here is exactly what each one is for, and why it never leaves your device:

Permission What it's for
storage Saves all your Tabulka data (todos, saved links, folders, sessions, settings) in chrome.storage.local. This is a private storage area on your device that no website or server can read.
tabs Lists your open tabs so you can save, close, or switch to them, and sends a new-tab page to the Tabulka workspace if you turn on that setting. Tab data stays on your device.
tabGroups Reads and restores Chrome tab groups (their color and title) as part of the sessions you save.
bookmarks Used only if you run the one-time “Import from Chrome bookmarks” flow. Tabulka reads your bookmark folders so you can pick which ones to import, and it removes the originals only if you confirm.
contextMenus Adds the “Save to Tabulka” option to the right-click menu on pages and links, so you can save without opening the extension page first.
notifications Shows a native “Saved” message after the right-click save action. Nothing more than a confirmation message, and nothing is sent externally.
favicon Shows site icons next to your saved items and tabs, using Chrome's built-in favicon API on your device.

Tabulka does not request host permissions (access to the content of other websites), and it cannot read or change the pages you browse.

3. Data sharing and disclosure

Tabulka does not share data with anyone, because it does not collect any in the first place. There are no third-party services, SDKs, payment processors, or APIs built into the extension. We do not sell user data under any circumstances, and we never will.

4. Data security

All Tabulka data is stored with Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API. It is sandboxed to the extension and protected by your browser's own security model. This is the same protection that Chrome gives your bookmarks and history. Because no data is sent anywhere, there is no network transport to secure. If you use the export feature, the JSON file is written directly to your device, and it is only as safe as your own file system.

5. Data retention

You are always in control of retention:

  • Completed todos are kept for one year, then deleted automatically to keep your lists tidy. This happens entirely on your device.
  • Saved links can be auto-archived after a period you set (or never), and archived items stay restorable until you delete them.
  • You can export, delete single items, or clear all Tabulka data at any time from Settings.
  • When you uninstall the extension, all locally stored data is removed.

6. Your rights and choices

Because all data lives on your own device, you can use every relevant right directly inside the extension, without contacting us: view everything (or export it as JSON), edit any item, delete single items or clear everything, and export your full data set at any time.

7. Children's privacy

Tabulka is a general productivity tool. It is not directed at children, and it does not knowingly collect information from anyone, because it does not collect information from any user.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and publish the new version here.

9. Contact

You can send questions about this policy or Tabulka's data practices to support@tabulka.com.
